Suck @ Life!

I have 1 week left of Boot Camp, a 12 week intense fitness program. Our trainer always tells us he wants us to suck at the work outs, and believe me, I'm pretty good at that. But the idea behind his comment is that, if we were able to do the work out with little problems, it's too easy for us and we're not challenging ourselves enough. Traumatic change means traumatic challenge. So, if he tells me to work harder and I tell him "I'm working as hard as I can," he won't believe me unless my legs and arms are shaking so bad that I fall over or drop something.

I was thinking how this same idea can be tied in spiritually. I think when I take on a God adventure, it should be one that I'm going to suck at. I was reading Chasing Daylight by Erwin McManus and I found a passage that I thought rocked. He said, "The mundane is not really the best context for a miracle. When we play it safe, we squeeze God out of the formula. If we go only where we know and do what we're certain will succeed, we remove our need for God. Whenever we respond to God's invitation, our need for God becomes heightened. Whenever we take on a God-sized challenge, self-sufficienty is no longer an option."(page 82)

So my challenge for you, suck at life! Do something that's going to require you to work hard and really challenge you so that you have to rely on God!

Congrats on being one week away from the end of Boot Camp. That's awesome. I'm jealous. :)
I love how you brought that Boot Camp comment into something so profoundly spiritual. That's definitely a good point. God receives all the glory when we do something that is obviously out of our own abilities. Thanks for more of your wonderful inspiration. You're awesome!! Miss ya
