I went camping this weekend with the Central Bible Church youth group. I started helping out with the group when I got to Portland. In a few weeks I'll start leading a smallgroup on Sunday mornings, so this weekend was a great chance to start building relationships with students. We took off on Friday evening and drove up to Mt. Adams, about 2 hours away on the WA side. We pulled in at dark, so it wasn't until morning that I saw how beautiful it was. Growing up in ND, I never really saw trees or hills, so being in the northwest is like a whole new place. I can't get over how big the trees are. We went for a hike on Saturday. We thought it would be a pretty easy hike, but it ended up being a "more difficult" hike. But we made it. I hiked with Katie and 2 students- Angel and Christine. Once we got to the top, it was the most gorgeous view. We could see Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, and the very tip of Mt. Rainer. What a sight! It was awesome to take in God's amazing creation. That night we sang praise songs around the campfire and listened to the creek that ran through the camp, then played some crazy night games. I must say though, even after all those ND winters, Oki turned me into a total wuss. I froze in my tent while camping. I wore 4 layers of clothes, a beanie, and mittens and I was still cold! Katie and I actually slept in the van the second night because we were so cold. Besides the cold, it was a great weekend of enjoying creation and building relationships with kids. I'm excited to dive into Central Bible's youth group this year.

And you thought your job was crappy?
This sign was in the outhouse at the campsite.

The beginning of our hiking trail.
We didn't have any conflicts with other hikers either :-)

Doesn't this tree look like a cow?? I thought it was cool.
You mess with the bulls, you get the horns!

Huge trees that make me feel really small :-)
