Kamiah, ID

I joined Central Bible Church (from Portland, OR) on their 7th annual mission trip to the Nez Perce reservation in Kamiah, ID. This year we partnered with a church in Trout Lake, WA. Combined, we had about 35 people.
It was really fun to hook up with CB again. This is the church I attended while I was at Multnomah. I spent 2 years getting to know these students and have really missed them since moving to WI.

Kamiah is about an 8 to 9 hour van ride. We had lots of quality "bonding" time. : )
We spent our mornings serving the First Indian Presbyterian Church (the oldest church in ID) and the Second Indian Presbyterian Church, by cleaning, doing lawn work, building things, organizing, etc. We were able to send smaller teams to the homes of church members as well. There are 2 YWAM couples doing ministry in the area. Unfortunately, 1 couple was away on furlough while we were there. The other couple taught us about the Nez Perce culture and connected with us with people in the church. They were great! And prior military folks : ) We had some nice chats.
In the afternoons our team split into two groups. One group led 2 basketball camps - one for little kids and one for teens. The other group led a VBS kids camp for younger kids. Both camps went really well. We had about 80 students come throughout the week. Our teens did a great job leading these camps!!

After the camps, we'd go swimming in the Clearwater River each day to cool down. It was in the upper 90s each day.

Our team gathered for a time of worship, study, reflection and prayer each evening. This was probably the highlight of each day. Here's a picture of some us girls at a point overlooking the town of Kamiah. We watched a beautiful sunset!
