Munich

After time in Dachau, we drove about 30 minutes to "Old Town" Munich. I have to admit, I was sort of nervous driving into such a big city, and felt pretty accomplished to find a parking garage. : )
We didn't have a lot of time, so went to the town square and browsed around. We saw...

The Hofbrauhaus, founded in 1644 and advertised as the "world's most famous beer house." It was also the place of Hitler's first Nazi demonstration.
The New Town Hall (or as the German's call it, the Rathaus), built between 1867 and 1909. I still think it's crazy to think that 1867 is new. I love the rich history of walking through German streets and city centers.
Here's a view of the inside of the Rathaus.
St. Peter's church, the oldest parish church in Munich.
We also spent time walking around the food market. Next time I need to be hungry! They had all sorts of goodies... cheese, brats, ice cream... I wasn't so sure about the green cheese though, next time I might have to sample that.
Munich is definitely worth another trip... I'd like to check out the Olympic Village and some of the museums and other points of interests in the future. But for my first visit, it was pretty cool!
