Rachel's Visit

Rachel, a great friend from Multnomah, came to visit me this past weekend!!! She's currently living and working in Turkey, and needed to leave and re-enter the country for visa purposes. We spent a day in Heidelberg, touring a castle, checking out shops along the walk-plots and we enjoyed a German dinner and coffee. We also spent an afternoon in Kaiserslautern sampling gelato. Fun times! It was so fun to catch up and just enjoy being with each other. Rachel is a great gal and I'm so thankful for our friendship. I love those types of friendships that just pick up right where they left off, despite being separated by a few countries.
I thought this was a cool feature on one of the castle walls in the center of the castle grounds - seems to be some sort of sun dial like clock to let people know what time it is.
We watched a beautiful sunset in Heidelberg. Awesome!!!
On Monday we went to Burg Nanstein - a nearby castle in Landstuhl. It had pretty cool brick stones laid amongst a neat rock formation.
