When I moved to Portland from Okinawa, I had a hard time adjusting to the lack of sun. As I transition from Wisconsin to Germany, I again find myself missing the sun. The sun doesn't make many appearances here throughout the winter - it's often cloudy, gray, and drizzly. We do have occasional bursts of sunshine though, and those really warm my heart. The other night, while I was eating dinner, I looked out the window and saw a beautiful sky. For about 30-45 minutes the sky turned pink, purple, yellow and orange. It was great!!!
This is view from the balcony of the apartment where I live. I love its location, it's absolutely gorgeous!! The scenery really reminds me of a mix between North Dakota and Wisconsin. There are wide open fields that remind me of the Dakota prairies. And then parts of it are hilly and lined with trees, just like Wisconsin. Today I looked out the window and saw 4 deer grazing in the field, it was just like deer that roam around our house in the Northwoods.
