Tis the Season!

It's my favorite time of year in Germany - Christmas markets galore!

I went to Aachen and Koblenz yesterday. Aachen has been near the top of my list of places to see in Germany. It's where the Holy Roman Empire was headquartered around 800ish and where Charlemagne was crowned emperor, and over 30 German kings. The church there was absolutely gorgeous. It was pretty unique in that it was full of mosaic art on the ceilings and the stained glass windows in the front of the sanctuary were beautiful.
After Aachen, we drove through Koblenz on our way home. Koblenz is where Germany's two major rivers meet up - the Mosel and Rhine. I'd like to go back to Koblenz during the day sometime. As we were driving into town, we could see some pretty neat churches and castles, but it was already dark and we weren't sure of the town's layout... so I'll go back sometime for future exploration : )
